Password manager firm 1Password has released a new solution that claims to help companies improve their overall security approach.
1Password Insights has tools to help firms monitor team usage in data breaches, password vulnerabilities and shared vaults, as well as provide suggested next steps and allow businesses to notify staff of data breaches.
The news comes as employees are more concerned about password security fatigue, with 20% of burned employees feeling that their company’s security policies are “not worth the hassle” according to 1Password’s own research, not a bright recommendation for the current crop of businesses.
What can the solution do?
Insights from 1Password can monitor how data breaches affect existing team members and identify the type of data being disclosed.
As part of the product suite of ID management tools, it can detect open business email addresses for data breaches among employees who have not yet registered for 1 password account.
1 Password can alert employees about data breaches and share recommendations to help determine next steps and protect vulnerable employees.
Also, the new tool will include new tools for managing passwords.
These include the ability to identify weak, reusable, and compromised passwords, using data from within employees and groups Third Party Websites Have I Been Pounded To help IT and security teams track and report detailed password health metrics and provide detailed exportable reports and shareable links to mitigate risks and vulnerabilities.
The ability to monitor team usage is included in the latest Password 1 offer, which states that it can help reduce security risks arising from issues such as shadow IT.
This includes identifying those who have not recently used their accounts and sending reminders to employees to use their accounts, as well as understanding who is not using their personal vaults and sending reminders to employees to reduce risks from poor safety hygiene.
Jeff Shiner, CEO of 1Password, says, “To keep your employees safe and secure in the workplace, you need to know where vulnerabilities exist in your organization. “Having the right policy in place is just the beginning.”
“We’ve designed insights from 1 Password to give IT and security administrators greater visibility into potential security risks so that businesses can improve their understanding of the threats posed by employee behavior and take clear steps to mitigate those issues.”
