New features in the Home app include routines when devices are opened or closed, in response to changes in temperature, humidity or occupancy detection, when devices are plugged in, started charging, docked or undocked, or when sounds are heard. The ability to trigger is muted or unmuted.
New actions include opening or closing devices (such as shades), pausing or unpausing media, starting/pausing/resuming timers, docking devices, activating lighting effects, restarting devices, setting target humidity percentages, etc. you can see Full list of new launchers and promotions In a Google blog post.
By adding them to the Starts and Actions that Google Home already supports, you can enable some great automations, such as:
The dog caught: When you see a dog, you can play soothing music to help your dog relax. You can set-up Chromecast with Google TV to play dog-friendly TV shows.

Even more convenient for home automation purists is the ability to create custom phone notifications (so you get a notification when your dog turns on the TV or when your robot vacuums) and trigger funnels (so the TV turns on). the first Time for your dog to walk in front of the camera today.
I am very excited for this last part. When I first had access to a text editor, I would turn on the lights in my office when motion was detected. It worked fine until I walked into the office for the first time in the evening a The light didn’t come back on until I got out. The starter funnel would be really helpful.
