The Starfield review is here, and the internet is full of clips, impressions and everything in between. If you’re curious how Bethesda’s latest single-player RPG performs on the Xbox Series S, you should be happy to know that the game runs smoothly on the console.
In our Starfield performance tests, we tested all three versions of Starfield. Like the Xbox series
“The Series S delivers an almost identical performance rating and shows that the team has worked hard to ensure the console doesn’t suffer compared to its big brother,” Michael Thompson said in the video.
However, the Series S version has some issues, but nothing major. We noticed in the video that both console versions have some issues with stuttering, such as in combat and when exploring large cities. However, our reviewer noted that it’s short, with FPS dropping to the mid-20s in “worst-case scenarios.” He noted that streaming and upload stuttering was “slightly” worse on the Series S than on the Series X, but nothing to make it unplayable.
Since the release of the Series S in 2020, there has been debate over Series S compatibility and whether this console will prevent developers from making games on the Series X. However, the major difference between the two is the lower visual quality.
Last year, Microsoft noted that the Xbox Series S had a performance boost to free up extra megabytes of memory after its release. As mentioned earlier Developers faced memory limitation issues that made it difficult to optimize games on the Series S.
