BEIJING, Sept 8 (Reuters) – China’s Huawei Technologies Inc began pre-sales of its Mate 60 Pro+ smartphone on Friday, adding a new version to a lineup that has drawn global attention to mirror the Chinese tech company’s success in defending the United States. Prohibition
While it launched the Mate 60 Pro smartphone last week without any prior notice, the company announced on its official online store that it will start accepting orders for the phone at 10:08 am (0208 GMT) and that delivery will be by October. 9.
The specifications provided by the company for the phone suggest that it can connect up to two satellites simultaneously and has larger internal storage space than the Mate 60 Pro. The price was not disclosed.
Speed tests shared by buyers on Chinese social media show that the Mate 60 Pro can achieve faster download speeds than leading 5G phones.
Detail analysis firm TechInsights also noted that the phone comes with the new Kirin 9000s chipset, manufactured in China by Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp (SMIC) (0981.HK).
The discovery is considered a major victory for Huawei, whose access to basic chip-making equipment to make its most advanced phone models has been restricted by the United States since 2019. This means that the company has so far only been able to release a limited batch of 5G models with standard chips.
Also on Friday, the company unveiled the Huawei Mate X5, a new version of its foldable phone series.
