The cool thing about Starfield is the level of starship design. Everything from looks and weapons to engines and armor can be customized to your personal preference.
If you want to recreate the Kessel Run with the Millennium Falcon, you can even smuggle contraband as Han Solo or relax in Milan with the ragtag cosmic crew.
Building a spaceship is one way, stealing a spaceship is another. If you come across a great machine, there’s nothing stopping you from grabbing it and making it your own.
Players have been sharing their impressive creations on social media since Starfield launched in September, so we’ll be taking a closer look at them for inspiration.
Below you’ll find everything you need to know about Starfield ships, including the best designs and cool ships you can steal to make the most of your space travels.
Explain how to build ships in Starfield
To build ships in Starfield, you need to go to a spaceport and talk to the ship engineer. From here you can request customization of a ship in your collection, register a new ship, repair your ship or buy a completely new ship.
The alternative is to build a large landing pad at an outpost. You can then use the DIY ship building station.
If you’re in ship view, you can access the ship builder by pressing the X (on Xbox) or B (PC) button. You can move and replace individual units by selecting them and clicking Edit.
If you make a mistake, you can undo and redo the action. To access different units, you can change levels by pressing the D-pad (on Xbox) or the H and F buttons (on PC) up and down.
Pressing the A button (on Xbox) or the G button (on PC) will take you to the add menu, where you’ll see all available parts. At the bottom of the screen is a row with your ship’s stats It’s wise to keep an eye on these if you want your ship to specialize in something – such as cargo transport, combat or speed.
There is a wide range of ship parts to choose from and some vendors have exclusive access to some of the more exotic units – so be sure to shop around.
You can unlock more available components and ship types by improving your ship piloting and driving skills.
Once you’re done customizing your ship, you can confirm the changes and display your new mount on the landing pad.

Cool ships to steal in Starfield
If you can’t be bothered to build your own ship, don’t have the financial means to buy one, or don’t like someone else’s ship, you might want to buy one for yourself.
Some of the coolest ships in the game belong to the resident space pirates, the Crimson Fleet. Their ships often have good offensive capabilities and features like “Shield Cargo” that allows you to bring stolen and smuggled items into populated systems.
Following ships from some of the more powerful factions must be done with an understanding of the risks, as factions like the United Colonies will offer strong resistance. Bounty hunters can also do their best, but their ships are also very desirable.
