Nokia is at a crossroads as a smartphone brand, with licensing deals coming to an end and with it perhaps an era.
Today’s Nokia is a shadow of its former self; The brand exists as a licensor of cheap smartphones from HMD Global and has nothing to do with the old Nokia in the mobile device sector. At times, the smartphone brand under HMD has come up and come back, but now it stands for cheap Android phones without any charm or anything special.
What is happening with Nokia in the smartphone world?
The umbrella company is licensing its name and not exactly (so far) for the better smartphone future. But there is hope because HMD Global want soon Sell yourself with your name. This allows HMD to appear as a budget brand and Nokia once again offers a high-end smartphone portfolio
Also what is conceivable? Nokia will soon cease to exist as a smartphone brand and the naming rights licensing agreement with HMD Global will expire in 2026. Then HMD will have to have a solution ready anyway to continue offering smartphones. The next few years will be interesting to see, but I’m not exactly in good spirits.
