On Tuesday, Apple held its own “Wanderlust” event, where the company unveiled the iPhone 15, Apple Watch Series 9, Apple Watch Ultra and some new accessories. However, ahead of the event, there were rumors of some product launches that have yet to see the light of day. Here’s what Apple didn’t announce at this week’s event:
Apple Watch Ultra in Schwarz
The first generation Apple Watch Ultra was only available in natural titanium… and that goes for the second generation as well. Both ShrimpApplePro and Bloomberg Apple is reportedly developing a black version of the Apple Watch Ultra, which implies that the titanium iPhone 15 Pro comes in four different colors.
However, there is only one color option for Apple Watch Ultra 2 and it is not black.
iPhone 15 Ultra
There have been many conflicting rumors about a larger iPhone Pro with a 6.7-inch screen. Some rumors say that Apple will rename its most expensive iPhone “Ultra” because it will feature the new periscope lens for improved optical zoom. Others have reported that Apple may offer both the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the iPhone 15 Ultra.
Although Apple may finally release a new iPhone Ultra, it didn’t happen this year. There are only two Pro models: iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Multiple USB-C accessories
While the entire iPhone 15 lineup now has a USB-C port instead of Lightning, Apple has updated some of its accessories that are still Lightning-based. For example, there is a new version of the AirPods Pro 2 with a USB-C charging case, and Apple has also introduced new wired AirPods with a USB-C port.
A few days before the event, Bloomberg Mark Gorman says MacRumors That Apple was working on several new USB-C accessories, including the MagSafe Duo and a redesigned MagSafe battery. It appears that Apple has discontinued both the MagSafe Duo and the MagSafe Battery Pack instead of updating it with USB-C.
Of course, Apple still hasn’t updated its other accessories like the Magic Mouse and Magic Keyboard to take advantage of the new charging port.
Color coordinated USB-C cable for iPhone
“Multiple sources with unknowns.”Majin BuIt has been reported that Apple will offer new braided USB-C cables for the iPhone 15. These cables will come in different colors to match the colors of the new iPhone, just like Apple did with the MagSafe charger for MacBooks.
While every iPhone 15 comes with a braided USB-C cable, they all have the same white cable — and no color options are sold separately. The leaked colored cables are likely designed for a different product, such as the new iMac (which ships with a Magic Keyboard and Mouse).
Thunderbolt support for the new iPhone
While the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro have a USB-C port, only the Pro models are compatible with USB 3 speeds, up to 10Gbps for data transfer. A LAB charger A report last month suggested that all new iPhone 15 models would support Thunderbolt for faster data transfer, but that hasn’t happened.
Faster charging speed on iPhone 15
last month, 9 to 5 Mac We’ve also heard from sources that some iPhone 15 models will support fast charging speeds of up to 35W. For comparison, charging on the iPhone 14 Pro is limited to 27 watts, while the iPhone 14 is limited to 20 watts.
Apple didn’t mention fast charging for the iPhone 15 during the event, and the iPhone 15 Pro’s specs webpage still says, “50% charge in about 30 minutes with a 20W adapter.”
It’s not yet clear if the limits will remain the same as the iPhone 14 or if the new devices will be able to charge faster with a different charger.
New iPads and Macs
There were no new Macs or iPads at the event. While Apple usually waits until October or November to announce new Macs, the company has in the past launched new iPads alongside new iPhones — but not this year.
According to another Bloomberg According to reports, the company has extended its internal testing to Mac devices with an M3 chip. The new models include updated versions of the 13-inch MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro, iMac and Mac mini, all with new chips. Dr. Gorman MacRumors Apple is expected to announce a new iPad Air through a press release next month.
It includes
