Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 consistently applies the #BeGreaterTogether principle when it comes to accessibility. Starting October 20th, players with physical limitations can swing through Marvel’s New York for impressive features. The developers benefited from their experience from previous games in the series and the success of other PlayStation titles such as Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.
Many of these accessibility features will be available from launch, with more added through future updates Features available at launch include:
- Challenge Level Modifiers and Gameplay Aids: Players can individually adjust enemy health, enemy damage and stealth detection and combine these settings to suit their preferences and needs. A tracking assist and automatic activation of quick time events are also optional.
- Shortcuts and game speed: Using shortcuts, players can assign different options to the left and right buttons. Also, they can set game speed reduction to 30, 50 or 70 percent of the real-time rate to get more response time in the game.
- Audio Frequency Control: This feature allows gamers to disable annoying sounds by using high or low frequency limits or by customizing settings based on their needs.
A full list of all accessibility features available at launch for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 can be found on the Insomniac Games website.
In addition to the features already mentioned, other highlights will be added after the game’s release, including:
- Audio description
- Screen reader
- Close the title
These features will be delivered via a free update in December 2023.
It’s worth noting that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 also supports the PlayStation 5’s Access Controller. This controller allows people with disabilities to customize the way they play and enjoy alone or in combination with the DualSense Wireless Controller for a longer and more comfortable gaming experience.
