Here’s another final look at the most important innovations of the Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel Watch 2.
October gets off to a tumultuous start, although that’s not entirely true, as it begins on a Sunday. Then a working day and another holiday. For many people, that might be enough time to get used to the Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, and Pixel Watch 2.
To minimize your waiting time, we will summarize all important information available three days before the event. Let’s start with the biggest shock? At least two new Google smartphones will be significantly more expensive than their predecessors.
The higher the price, the better the launch promotion
The new Pixel 8 will start at just 799 euros, the predecessor was significantly cheaper at 649 euros. There will be a bundle offer for those who pre-order from October 4, where Google will include Pixel Buds Pro for free.
With the Pixel 8 Pro, the price increase is even more significant, as we reach 1,099 euros. There’s also a bundle to start with, as we get the Pixel Watch 2 for free. It would be a very good deal.
And the price of the new watch is also different, but only 20 euros more expensive. RRP for us is probably €399 for the Bluetooth/WLAN model with standard bracelet.
Pixel smartphone with focus on AI and a new camera
Google Pixel 8 will bring new camera sensors and some new AI features for the camera and Google Photos. The new Magic editor will definitely be powerful; It was already announced in the spring. A new camera app with Pro mode (finally!) and improved operation will sweeten our update.
The main camera sensor will be revamped and the ultra-wide-angle image sensor on the Pixel 8 Pro will increase from 12 to 48 MP. The biggest highlight for me is definitely the use of the new display, which will be significantly brighter. The Pixel 8 Pro also has an LTPO panel, which now has no curved sides.

Google Pixel Watch 2: Big leap in chipset
There’s a huge jump in chipset for the second generation of the Pixel Watch. Google is switching from 2018 Exynos to the current Snapdragon W5 from Qualcomm. It will be much faster and can also have a positive effect on battery life
The Pixel Watch 2 offers a visual update only in small details. It’s IP68 certified, will have some Fitbit updates on board, and will have a wider range of tracking sensors (from the Sense 2). There will also be new backup functions and other innovations thanks to Wear OS 4.

Google isn’t reinventing its Pixel devices
Basically, Google is improving on some criticism and we think that’s great. However, significant price increases will have a deterrent effect. But I think the devices will be worth their price compared to the rest of the market. I just think the Pixel Watch 2 is still too expensive; The starting price should be low.
