Design based on Pixel 8
Website Smartprix, Steve Hemmerstoffer, aka OnLeaks, has shared renders of the Google Pixel 8a. The Pixel 7a’s successor is codenamed “Akita” and has been spotted in recently leaked photos. The OnLeaks renders are of higher resolution and showcase the smartphone from all angles The design is likely taken from the Pixel 8, as both models look very similar on the back.
Slightly larger than the Pixel 8
The differences become more pronounced up front, as Google’s A model has a Display with wide bezels will be installed. That’s why the dimensions of 152.1 × 72.6 × 8.9 millimeters are slightly larger than the Pixel 8 (150.5 × 70.8 × 8.9 mm), even though the Pixel 8a has a smaller display. Screen diagonal should be: 6.1 inches While the Pixel 8 offers a 6.2-inch display. The dimensions are almost the same as the Pixel 7a, but the successor looks much rounder.
Apparently the manufacturer plans to release the mid-range model in Rose & Bay (Blue). Apart from the savings in cameras, a Tensor G3 can be expected with slimmed down display specifications and lower clock speeds.
Outlook for release and pricing
It is unclear when the Pixel 8a will appear. The predecessor was launched in May for 509 euros, but recently there were rumors that the Pixel 8a could be discontinued. However, according to current leaks and benchmark entries, it currently appears that Google is continuing development as planned. When it does appear, it should also benefit from an extended update guarantee (7 years).
