Exciting details about the upcoming Final Fantasy XIV Online expansion “Dontrail”.

FINAL FANTASY XIV Online players can look forward to an epic journey in the summer of 2024 when the famous MMO’s fifth expansion Dawntrail is released. Exciting information was revealed by Final Fantasy producer and director Naoki Yoshida in a new teaser trailer showing the battle-hardened Warrior of Light in action.

A gameplay trailer also provides an insight into the capabilities of the “Viper” melee fighter:

An exciting announcement was the introduction of a new Alliance raid series called Echoes of Vana’diel, which will be added throughout the 7.x content update. This crossover series was created in collaboration with FINAL FANTASY XI.

The Dontrail expansion will feature tons of new content, including increased level caps, multiple new jobs, expanded areas, new tribes, dungeons, and various combat content such as FATEs, High Hunts, and Treasure Hunts. Some of the latest content the player can look forward to includes:

• New work “Viper”, a melee fighter who fights with two one-handed blades that can be combined into two-handed weapons.
• The new city of Tuliollal is the capital of the federal city-state of North Yok Tural.
• New regions such as the tropical Cozamauca region and the Shaloani desert region.
• The new tribal people living in the tropical forests of Kojamauka are the “Moblins”.
• New Threats with “Eliminators”.
• New Alliance campaign “Echoes from Vana’diel”.
• A new limited job is expected to be released in the second half of the 7.x patch series.

The Dawntrail expansion also introduced the first extensive graphical improvements to characters and environments, including aesthetic improvements, higher texture resolution, and improved materials.

Along with this exciting news, it was announced that the Xbox Series X|S version of FINAL FANTASY XIV Online will enter open beta between mid-January and February 2024. The Xbox Series X version will support 4K resolution.

More information about “Dontrail” will be announced at the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival 2024 on January 7th and 8th, 2024 in Tokyo.
