Twitch has revealed that it will be like this “End of Support” for Nintendo Switch Twitch App a 31 January 2024.
Starting November 6, 2023 (next week), new users will also no longer be able to download the Twitch app from the Nintendo Switch Shop. As a result, existing users will again lose access early next year.
Twitch shared the following statement edges Information about removing the app from the online store:
“We recently made the difficult decision to remove the Twitch app from Nintendo Switch. Nintendo remains an important partner and we appreciate the support the Switch community has given Twitch and our streamers.”
The Twitch app originally launched on the Switch eShop in November 2021, allowing users to watch live gaming videos, eSports and IRL streams via the website and mobile app only. Unfortunately, this has also led to some complaints.
As we mentioned here at Nintendo Life:
“It looks like you can’t use chat or see chat unless you’re actually watching the stream, and you can’t stream games from Switch either. While watching a stream, the only options are to pause or hide the user interface or close the stream
Of course, if you’ve never used this app before and are curious to see what it looks like on Switch, there’s still time to give it a try. If you need help with this free download, full instructions can be found on the Twitch website.
