A Destiny 2 player shared a video on Reddit of the “reward” he received for completing a Public Hero event.
Public events are an important part of Destiny 2, offering rewards for completing wave-based activities on various planets and moons. Bungie decided to reduce the rewards offered and gradually they became mainly useful for completing different rewards.
Heroic Public Events are a more challenging version that can be played by completing certain mechanics during regular Public Events. Although this increases the difficulty a bit, it’s usually worth it because of the better rewards at the end.

Now, a player has shared a post on social media documenting his personal ordeal of failing to get the reward he wanted.

in a post Reddit, announced at the climax of a public ether resupply event on the ill-fated Guardian Moon. After defeating the main Aether server, they claimed their reward from the chest, which yielded nothing when opened.

The community quickly expressed its collective sympathy for the situation and general dismay at the general state of the public event. One said: “Public events are a joke in this game. Since they were upset about people stopping getting legendary items, there was no point in doing this. I swear they want more in this game that wastes your time than benefits you.

Another agreed: “It’s the little things that really hurt destiny. “It’s getting worse.” It makes a big difference to people.
Others suggested going to the first Destiny game to find a solution to the problem, saying, “I think D2 can take a look at how rewarding public events are in D1.” High experience bonus, 4-5 ng (3-4 blues, 1-2 legendaries), light particles (can be exchanged for reinforcement cores). I think they should drop at least one World Legend for Normal and two for Championship.

Given the obvious general frustration with the Lightfall expansion, Bungie is under pressure to mend its ways ahead of its final form. With this expansion as the culmination of seven years of storytelling in Destiny 2, the pressure will be at an all-time high.
