Rare’s legendary bear-and-bird duo Banjo-Kazoo returned last year via the Nintendo Switch online service, and fans have been clamoring for a true return ever since. There are even some rumors about a possible revival of the game. So what is the possibility of something like this ever happening?
In the same interview with Windows Central, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer gave a message to fans, noting how much he knows about these requests, but it’s about finding the right team and the right opportunity to revisit the legendary mascots of the 90s. Here it is in full:
Phil Spencer: “You’ve seen from our history that we haven’t tackled every franchise that people want to have — Banjo fans, I hear. But it’s true that when we find the right team and the right opportunity, I love revisiting stories and characters I’ve seen before.
Of course, it cannot be said that a new Banjo-Kazooie game will definitely appear on the Nintendo console, but Xbox has already done all kinds of collaborations in the past, for example Banjo-Kazooie appeared in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Switch as a DLC fighter.
Recently, Rare’s Jet Force Gemini was announced for Switch Online, and Microsoft signed a 10-year deal to bring Call of Duty to multiple platforms, including Nintendo. Minecraft Legends was also released on Switch earlier this year.
