At the end of December, Streacom presented a very special decoration with the VU1 hub. It is a small aluminum cube that has a retro look. It can be used to display CPU, GPU temperature and other values.
The manufacturer integrates a VU1 1.5 inch e-ink display With 200 × 144 on the front, which is complemented by a mechanical pointer. This reminds the gadget of old measuring devices. The contents of the dial can be adjusted via software, which means there should be an “infinite number” of usage scenarios.
Retro display provides information about temperature and usage
The manufacturer already provides some usage examples that are particularly interesting for gamers: it is possible GPU, CPU and RAM usage Monitoring. You can see how much free space the hard drive or SSD still has. The whole thing is connected via a USB-C port, and two dials can be connected as well. The dials have two USB-C ports to connect multiple displays in series.
The e-ink display is powered by a RGB front light Illuminated so that the display can be seen even in the dark. A nice gimmick is that the light color can automatically change when a certain threshold is reached. For example, if the CPU temperature is high, the color may be red. The whole thing is compatible with all operating systems as it is controlled through a web app.
