First, he cautioned that users should never charge an iPhone to 100% or overnight.
Instead, he recommended only letting the battery charge to 80% because it would chemically age if it continuously reached full charge.
“Go to Settings, Battery, Battery Health, Charging and turn it on [charging optimization] On me “If you want to be really careful, set it to 80%,” says Morgan as he walks users through the process.
Morgan advised users to turn off background activity by going to Settings and tapping General and Background App Refresh.
He explained that all the applications that appear on his screen run in the background and use battery power to stay up to date. However, they can be switched to update only over Wi-Fi or only when open
Users are then advised to turn off location services for apps they do not use To do this, he instructed users to go to Settings, Privacy, Security and Location Services and select which apps use location services at a given time.
For those who don’t rely on their mobile personal assistant, Morgan advises iPhone users to turn off the “Hey, Siri” feature under “Siri and Search” that activates the software when someone says the phrase — and for some, Siri has become a Problems when calling people.
The former Apple employee advised users to go to Accessibility and Motion and tap Reduce Motion to save battery life.
If possible, Morgan advises users to turn off auto-updates as well as brightness and Bluetooth, which he admits will “diminish the phone experience” but will help if you’re “poor on battery life.”
But Morgan didn’t just make the battery last longer, he showed his audience how to use their iPhones more efficiently.
When you first open the camera app – which always defaults to the still camera feature – just hold down the shutter button and the video feature will be activated. If you move your finger up and down while holding down the screen, you can zoom in “like on TikTok or Snapchat.”
Next, show the audience how to make one-handed texting easier, for example, if it’s hard to “reach through the phone” to press the “a,” “q,” or “z” keys.
There’s a one-handed keyboard option, accessed by holding down the globe icon at the bottom left of the keyboard – the same option that lets you change the keyboard language. When the pop-up window appears, depending on which hand you’re typing with, you can choose a cropped keyboard, whether it’s centered on the right or left.
The useful hacks came after iOS 17 developers initially faced rapid battery drain and raised privacy concerns.
The latest iPhone OS 17.2 software upgrade comes on the heels of two recent bug fixes related to virtual car keys and financial features, among other security concerns.
