For those who don’t remember 2022 Sony Pictures has confirmed that the popular manga is getting a live action movie One Punch Man Already in production, this made some sense to many fans, given that the franchise has grown to have its own video games. However, it’s been almost two years since the footage was released and not much information has come out about it, but it seems the silence has ended.
As noted by media outlets such as The Hollywood Reporter, two great directors from the Rick and Morty franchise will now be helming the project, namely Dan Harmon y Heather Ann Campbell, and this is due to the fact that those who were already confirmed have left their positions. It is not yet stated what the reason for such a decision would be, but whenever these situations occur it is usually a conflict over money or creative differences.

“One Punch Man” is a popular manga and anime series created as a webcomic by artist ONE in 2009. The story was so well received that it was adapted into a manga illustrated by Yusuke Murata in 2012 and later an anime series in 2015.
The series follows Saitama, an extremely powerful hero who can defeat any opponent with one punch, hence the name “One Punch Man”. Despite his great powers, Saitama faces an existential crisis as his powers leave him unable to find strong thrills or true challenges in combat, leaving him perpetually bored and disillusioned with his life as a hero.
The world is full of superheroes and villains, and is organized by the Hero Association, which categorizes heroes into different levels and recruits them to fight against the ever-present threats. Throughout the series, Saitama interacts with several other heroes and characters, including his apprentice Xenos, a cyborg who seeks revenge against another cyborg who destroyed his village.
He is known for his sarcastic and often humorous approach to common tropes of superhero and shonen manga series. It parodies many of the genre’s clichés and formulas, such as sweeping explanations of power and dramatic transformations. Despite its often light and playful tone, the series also addresses deeper themes such as boredom, isolation and the search for purpose.
