In 2020, Xbox announced a new game Perfect Dark The Initiative is managing the project. Four years have passed since then, and Not only have we seen what this installment looks like, but everything points to this title being chaos behind closed doors.
According to industry insider Jeff Grubb of The Initiative and Crystal Dynamics, who are helping out, Various problems are encountered. This information was supported by other journalists and insiders, who confirmed that the development of the new Perfect Dark is all chaos. Grubb commented on this:
“As a result, I’m hearing more and more that Perfect Dark is in a tough spot, it seems like it’s in a very tough spot.
They don’t seem to really bond in any way.”
In 2023, IGN reported that development on the new Perfect Dark had resumed, and that the game would see the light of day two or three years later, between 2025 and 2026. For its part, Xbox has remained silent on the project. However, considering the recent closure of Tango Gameworks, many have begun to dig a grave for The Initiative, the team that was created with the project in mind. I hope that the new Perfect Dark will be a good game, but everything indicates that it will not be. It’s unbelievable that someone like Microsoft, with all its resources, isn’t able to coordinate a team to deliver a game. Looks like it’s only a matter of time before we hear that this studio has closed its doors.
