“Strands” is an all-new daily crime story from The New York Times. This puzzle is more difficult than the classic word search and requires a sharp eye to solve.
As with Wordle, Connections and Mini Crossword, the strands can be a bit difficult to solve on some days. There’s no shame in needing a little help from time to time. If you’re stuck and want to know the answer to today’s Strands puzzle, check out the solved puzzle below.
All Strands begins with the goal of finding “keywords” hidden in a grid of puzzle letters. Manipulate letters by dragging or clicking to form words. Double click on the last letter to confirm. When you find the correct word, the letters will be highlighted in blue and no longer selectable.
If you find a word that isn’t a subject word, it’s still helpful! For every three unrelated words you find that are at least four letters long, you get a clue – the letters of a keyword appear and all you have to do is decipher them.
Each letter in the grid is used to represent a keyword and there is no overlap. Each letter is used once and only once.
Each puzzle contains a “spanogram”, a special word (or words) that describes the subject of the puzzle and touches two opposite sides of the board. When you find the extension image, it will be highlighted in yellow.
The goal should be to solve the puzzle quickly without using too many clues.
