The video game environment has had anticipated sequels for years, not one more or less of them Kingdom Come: Deliverance IIdevelopment by Warhorse Studio Which follows the title released in 2018. It goes without saying that the original was created under crowdfunding from many hopeful players who ultimately invested their money well.
What’s most intriguing is that the story of this title left the window open for a sequel, since not all ends were closed about the hero’s journey. So it was just a matter of time for the announcement and so it happened but under a powerful publication that is now well known deep silver, So not much help was needed from the fans.
Now we’re just days away from its launch, and luckily we’re already playing it, just over 10 hours into this new tour of the Middle Lands so far. So, we can talk to you briefly about what I experienced at the moment and I can tell you that things have been pleasant and strange in some departments.
It should be noted that this is not a final review, so the comments presented here are first impressions of the Gold Stage version of the game, that is, it can now be played from the beginning to the end of the credits. However, we will have to wait a little while to form an opinion about this product and everything it entails.
Go back in time
The first thing we find in the game is that the story picks up right where the first story ended, ie the journey you are embarking on. Kenny D. Skalitz with Hans CaponAll with the goal of continuing to rally the nation in their favor. It’s a direct continuation, mostly we don’t see them for two days of their tour but that’s it, years haven’t passed between the two games.
However, almost upon reaching the city where they were supposed to conduct diplomacy, a serious accident occurred in which all of Sir Hans’ troops were destroyed by bandits leaving only two survivors, he and of course, Henry. So they end up with essentially no equipment and will be forced to start from scratch on an adventure that is currently seeking an invitation to an important royal wedding.
To accomplish their mission, both must raise their reputation within this land TrotskyWhere apparently they’re not familiar or anything like that, so words alone won’t help them. Then, they have to make a name for themselves by completing various missions and assignments in the city and surrounding towns.
Will you be a thief or be careful?
The way to progress is to earn money to get better weapons, armor, equipment and other items, so in any RPG we can find a way to get invited to a wedding. It won’t be easy though, because there’s a huge map to navigate in the medieval era, somewhere in the 1400s, to be more precise.
The title is somewhat similar to a western RPG we can say Skyrim But without the fantasy element, it’s clearly more grounded in terms of the realism part in the historical context. Therefore, you have to be very careful while interacting with different ones NPC of the people, as they would not be tolerated at all in real life.
You can choose to get resources by completing main and secondary missions, but stealing results like being arrested by the law and gaining a negative reputation. So, if you want to go on a crime spree, it is better to use stealth skills and thus not be noticed by people.
Similarly, we must remember that the game carries elements of survival, such as fatigue that the character can accumulate or satisfaction. All of these can be supported by sleeping in inns, camps, and of course, trying simple or more prepared meals and not having side effects while exploring the map.
Danger everywhere
When we are released into the open world we can go as we please, on foot or on horseback, we only have to consider statistics and survival. and it is necessary to carry with us provisions and arms which have good effect, provided we meet in some parts with animal and human enemies.
The combat is very similar to previous titles, with commands that feel more like a rhythm game than anything else, the effects aren’t as immediate and you have to know the exact moment to strike. It’s an ordeal at first to learn the basic features and there will definitely be a couple of deaths, but over time the rules spread more.
Like every game of this genre we can be left with changing conditions, among them bleeding, starving, embarrass and others, this means that it is necessary to heal yourself before affecting the character. This can be achieved simply by sleeping, using a bandage, or making potions with the alchemy mini games.
In addition, the defense of clothing wears out with our days, so it is necessary to repair clothing with various merchants, buy new ones directly or even steal it from forest bandits. Although it is clear that if we steal clothes, it will be essential to wash them or arouse suspicion among the villagers.
Regarding missions, there are secondary and main missions, the player can choose to complete as he wishes, but to reach higher levels with more stats, these redundant tasks are recommended. Of course, these are not all quests to find out, some are more complex than others which can lead us on quite a wide adventure with secrets.
Huge area to cover
As I said earlier, the game has a huge map to cover, with plains to traverse, cities to visit, towns with their shops, and even nomadic camps. Each location has points of interest that can be convenient, from specialty stores to horse care areas.
Likewise, we can find animal hunting areas, with the aim of killing some animals and selling or cooking them in pots in the camp to extract nutrients. On the other hand, their skins can be exchanged for a few coins or later on crafting clothes or even strengthening them in a short period of time.
Mini games from the last installment also return, like using a lockpick to open doors or chests, with a sensor that’s hard to master, so I recommend recording them before activating them. Also not to be missed is the fast time event of picking pockets, here we must be very careful, as if we fail we will be in full censure of the law.
It goes without saying that, like other games in the industry, the villagers are not stupid, and they will remember all the misdeeds committed by our characters, regardless of how many days have passed. We need to order more or support ourselves with our Charisma stats through dialogue to get forgiveness, sometimes this will help and other times it won’t.
That’s all I can say for now about my experience, and I must say it has its ups and downs, as I loved the open world but not so much the complex combat system. Of course, at the moment I like what I see and that may lead to a positive review for the next day.
We have a full day ahead of us
I have discovered a lot in the game in these first hours, and I want to tell you more about the medieval adventure that lies ahead of us. So it won’t take me long to tell you the full experience and I hope I’ve learned to love the combat part and not hate it anymore.
I also want to comment, you don’t need to go through the first game to actually understand Kingdom Come: Deliverance IIAnd I’m not going to kid you, it’s continuous with mechanics. Actually, it’s my first time in Henry’s day, so I have a lot to learn and I hope it’s worth connecting with this world full of duplicity and medieval politics.
Although of course, it scares me a little knowing in advance that the map can cover more than we can imagine. However, that will have to be thought about later.
Note that the title is published later February 4 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
