Most Xbox fans know of Hello Games from our open-world sci-fi adventure game, No Man’s Sky. Millions of you have been enjoying the near-limitless wonders of that infinite and procedurally-generated universe, especially since we entered Xbox Game Pass earlier in the year.
For the last couple of years, however, a few of members of our team have been working on an altogether more hand-crafted and intimate project.
The Last Campfire is a puzzle adventure game where you play as Ember, trapped in a puzzling place, searching for meaning and a way home. It is a story about trying to rekindle hope in a hopeless fantasy world.
At its heart, this is a game of exploration in a world filled with puzzles. You’ll learn new skills as you travel through the world, allowing you to take on more difficult challenges. You’ll find a flute which allows you to manipulate the world around you, and a boat to sail back through parts of the world you couldn’t reach before. Bit by bit allowing you to explore more of the charming but dark world of The Last Campfire.
Hello Games was founded on games made by tiny teams such as this. Our first game, Joe Danger, which released way back in the Xbox 360 era, was a step on our path to more ambitious games like No Man’s Sky. It gave the founding four members of the team a good grounding for what was to come and we learned so much.
We’re lucky enough to be able to try to help others on the team to have the same experience, to create new ideas of their own. As such, The Last Campfire is a passion project of three members of the team, Stevie, Chris and James. They are incredibly nervous and excited today to finally let people play.
We all really hope you enjoy The Last Campfire on Xbox One today, it’s a game we care a great deal for, and one that’s had a whole lot of love poured into it.
