The Benjy Grinberg Scholarship and Nine Others for Students of the Performing and Visual Arts

1. Benjy Grinberg Scholarship
The Benjy Grinberg Rostrum Scholarship is intended for students in performing arts, visual arts, and other creative careers. It is a $1,000 award. Scholarships like this one can be a great steppingstone toward academic and career success.
In order to be considered for the Benjy Grinberg Rostrum Scholarship, students need to write a 750-word essay responding to the prompt “What is a passion or hobby of yours, and what role does it play in your educational journey?”
The scholarship is available to current students at the undergraduate or graduate levels, as well as high school seniors who are accepted to a college or university. This year’s deadline for the scholarship application is May 31, 2021.
2. Beverly G. Alpay Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is targeted toward graduate and undergraduate students from Southern California institutions. Students are invited to submit their artistic works to be displayed in the Palos Verdes Arts Center’s scholarship exhibition. One student will receive a $5,000 scholarship. The deadline is March 15, 2021.
3. Arts for Life! Scholarship
The Arts for Life! Scholarship is awarded to 25 Florida high school seniors in the amount of $1,000. Students must demonstrate artistic and academic excellence in creative writing, drama, dance, visual arts, or music.
Applicants need to write an essay explaining how the arts have positively influenced their lives, along with a portfolio of their work. The deadline is February 1, 2021.
4. Elaine Sirkin Forbes Scholarship
This scholarship was created by the Pittsburgh Foundation in honor of Elaine Sirkin Forbes. Only students from Allegheny County, Pennsylvania may be considered for this award, which averages $1,000 annually. Students must be interested in visual, media, or performance arts majors to be considered. The deadline is March 31, 2021.
5. George Heller Memorial Scholarship
The George Heller Memorial Scholarship was instituted by the Screen Actors Guild Foundation. Only members of SAG-AFTRA and their legal dependents may apply. This is a $2,500 award for students majoring in performing arts. Applications for this academic year opened in December 2020.
6. CBC Spouses Performing/Visual Arts Scholarship
The CBC Spouses Performing/Visual Arts Scholarship is awarded to constituents of Congressional Black Caucus members. It supports African American students who are interested in careers in the performing and visual arts. 10 awards are given each year in the amount of $3,000, and students may reapply each year. The deadline is April 30, 2021.
7. Celebrate the West High School Art Competition
For residents of the Western states and Pacific Territories, the Western Governors’ Association has founded the Celebrate the West High School Art Competition. Students are challenged to create works of art that celebrate their state. High school students, as well as homeschooled students, may apply. The award is in the amount of $1,500, and the deadline is April 30, 2021.
8. Create Real Impact Contest
This award was created by the nonprofit organization Impact Teen Drivers. The program encourages students to create works that educate teens about the dangers of reckless and distracted driving. Creative writing, visual arts, and film are included. The award is in the amount of $10,000, and the deadline is November 12, 2021.
9. Walt Disney Imaginations Design Competition Project Challenge
The Disney Imagineering Department created this competition to foster creativity in students throughout the country. Students are invited to design a community installation that inspires local residents and students. Students need to be at least 18 years old and currently enrolled as juniors or seniors in college. Graduate students and recent graduates are also eligible. The deadline is October 11, 2021.
10. Iowa Scholarships for the Arts
This scholarship was created for Iowa high school seniors. It is a $1,500 award for students interested in pursuing the visual and performing arts. Students must also enroll in a college in Iowa to receive the award. The deadline is March 1, 2021.
