It’s been almost a year since the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro were released. Like most smartphones, there were a lot of bugs after the launch that could be fixed with the OnePlus software update. Unfortunately, a few OnePlus 9 issues remain with the series, mainly since the OnePlus Oxygen OS 12 (based on Android 12) rolled out in December last year. Here are some OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro issues and see how to fix them!
Our verdict: OnePlus 9 Review | OnePlus 9 Pro Review
Issue # 1: Notification issues with the OnePlus 9 app
Eric Zeman / Android Authority
Some OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro owners may see delayed notifications or receive notifications only when they open the app.
Possible solutions:
- If you notice delayed notifications, this may be due to the phone’s battery optimization features. Go Settings> Battery> Battery Optimization 6. Find the apps you are seeing this issue with. Tap “Do not optimize”. If you want to make sure an app is running in the background, you can “lock” the app. Open the app. Then turn on Recent apps Long press the Page App window and select “Lock” in the pop-up menu. Once done, you can go through the same process and remove it by tapping “Unlock”.
- Some users have found that disabling the “adaptive notification” setting works. Go Settings> Apps & notifications> Special access to apps> Adaptive notifications And select None.
- App notification issues are software-related, so make sure you keep the app and phone OS updated to their latest version.
Problem # 2: The alarm is not working
C. Scott Brown / Android Authority
One of the most common OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro issues since the Oxygen OS 12 update was related to the alarm clock. Some users are unable to dismiss an alarm from the lock screen The other thing is that the alarm notification only shows on the lock screen but does not actually ring.
Possible solutions:
- You can try clearing the app data and cache. Go Settings> Apps and notifications And open the app list. Select the Clock app, then go to “Storage and Cache”. Tap “Clear Storage” and “Clear Cache”.
- Some users have said that performing a factory reset after installing the latest version of Oxygen OS helps clear up some common bugs. This is not the best solution as you will lose all your data and need to reset the phone, but if you encounter many problems after the update it is worth considering.
- If you see many bugs after the OS update, it may be best to return to Oxygen OS 11 until some of these issues are resolved. OnePlus has Guide How to do it in their forum.
Problem # 3: USB-C earphones or dongles don’t work on OnePlus 9
Robert Triggs / Android Authority
Some users are having trouble using their USB-C earphones or dongles after the Oxygen OS 12 update.
Possible solutions:
- This is not a bug but is due to the OTG setting being turned off during the update. Go Settings> System And enable “OTG storage”.
Problem # 4: Android Auto Problem
Eric Zeman / Android Authority
Android Auto problems are common on most smartphones. Surprisingly, this is also the case with the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro.
Possible solutions:
- If you use the OnePlus Switch feature to set up your new phone, you may run into Android Auto connection problems. If so, find the app in the Google Play Store, uninstall it and download it again.
- You may notice that you no longer see the Android Auto app in your app drawer. If there’s a problem with the app settings, you’ll find them in the phone settings. Go Settings> Bluetooth and device connection> Android Auto. Everything you need should be there.
- Check the cable you are using and get a new one if needed. This can be a hardware issue if you see frequent disconnections. On the other hand, if you use Android Auto Wireless, you may want to switch to a wired connection if possible for more stability.
Problem # 5: Google Discover cannot be removed
Robert Triggs / Android Authority
OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro owners who have upgraded their phones to Oxygen OS 12 find that they can’t move the Google Discover page (by swiping to the home screen). This is a bug but not a feature. With Oxygen OS12, the option to remove this feature has been removed. You can still delete all the cards displayed through your Google settings, but you’ll still see a search bar at the top.
Problem # 6: Camera problem
Robert Triggs / Android Authority
Some people are noticing the various problems with the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro cameras after the Android 12 update. Images appear blurry and out of focus and get worse when zooming in on a subject.
Possible solutions:
- You can try clearing the app data and cache. Go Settings> Apps and notifications And open the app list. Select the camera app, then go to “Storage and Cache”.
- If you see many bugs after the OS update, it may be best to go back to the previous version until some of these issues are resolved. OnePlus has Guide How to do it in their forum.
- This software issue will probably be fixed in an upcoming update.
