Ragnarök’s prophecy has changed everything, and with it, we are pleased to announce some new accessibility features that will be available in Ragnarök, the God of War.
Not only have we redesigned our user interface for greater flexibility and readability, we’ve remapped the controller from scratch and added more customization to our combat and interaction systems. We’ve kept all accessibility features from God of War since 2018 and expanded them to include more than 60 ways to adjust the gameplay to suit your style and needs.
Here’s a selection of some of the new notable features.
God of War (2018) PC features have been added to God of War Ragnar
For God of War (2018) on PC, we have made sure to reproduce and improve the popular features of the early PlayStation release. We’re glad to continue to support God of War Ragnar on PS4 and PS5 with these features:
Shooting / Auto Shooting: Hold the trigger to shoot and release. When Auto Shot is turned on, you can start shooting by pressing the forward motion lever on either side for a few seconds. You can configure the time required to enable Auto Snap.
Continuous point (always on the grid): If you need additional focal points to reduce motion sickness or want a constant reminder of the center of the screen, we offer the ability to activate a focal point in three different sizes and seven different colors.
Target style: Press and hold the target position and you can choose whether to enable / disable it.
Defensive style: You can press the position with the slope and choose whether to hold or enable / disable.

Improving subtitles and captions
We’ve invested heavily in improving our subtitles and caption systems for more personalization and information capture.
Size of subtitles and captions: We’ve increased the minimum text size and added a new scaling. An extra-large text size has been added to make subtitles and captions more readable. We’ve also dedicated a larger text area to meet TV and movie subtitle standards.
Subtitles and caption colors: You can adjust the speaker name, subtitle body and caption color individually. You can choose from seven different colors.

Names of speakers (Options retained from 2018): Like God of War (2018), you can show or hide the names of the speakers. You can adjust this setting regardless of the size of the UI text.
Caption: With the expansion of sound effects captions, we’ve added a number of new ways to understand game audio. We’ve added captions to both the cutscene and the gameplay to offer a richer understanding of the soundscape of this world. Additionally, you can enable captions that will provide you with important game information for understanding puzzles and descriptions.

Blur backgrounds for subtitles and captions: We’ve included some options that allow you to make the background behind subtitles and captions more readable in complex situations.
Subtitle background (Options retained from 2018): In addition to blurring, we’ve included options to darken the background behind the subtitles for better readability in Ice. Includes numerous opacity settings to choose from in the background of high contrast.

Directions: The original gameplay sound now has an optional indicator of the direction they are coming from. To make it easier for you to solve puzzles with sound clues, this indicator lets you direct yourself to the source of an important sound.
Text size / icon size
The super requested feature of God of War (2018) is back, better than ever! You wanted a comfortable reading experience while playing on the sofa and we listened to you. Completely redesigned and responsive user interface and increased minimum text size, which can be significantly increased, makes it easier to read text on screen.
For reference, let’s take a look at UI in-game, default and text scaling of XXL.

We have two examples of scaling game icons with the smallest and largest options to choose from.

Controller remapping
We redesigned our controller mapping system so that you can customize key configurations to God of War Ragnaro. A wide range of preset layouts will be available, as well as support for custom controller remapping. Individual keys can be switched, and to select complex actions, you can choose an alternate configuration from a predefined list.
For items like Fury of Sparta, Assisted Navigation, and Quick Turn, we offer a variety of ways to customize your experience for certain activities that require multiple keys, including hotkey on the touchpad.
High contrast mode
Our new High Contrast Color mode lets you apply color to game elements such as targets, enemies and other characters, as well as a variety of objects. When enabled, a layer of color is applied to the letters which makes them more visible in the background. You can also deface the background to add more contrast. In this mode, you can make the navigation area, loot items and special effects more visible.
Customize high contrast activation: Select off, on or always on for gameplay only (this option excludes Katsin). High contrast mode can be turned on and off by swiping with one finger. This mode is automatically disabled when you are in the Settings or Characters menu.
High contrast color customization: Choose a color palette to suit your style of play and adjust individual colors for characters, enemies, and items.
High Contrast Wallpaper Customization: Allows you to select background contrast layers with medium or dark tones separately.
Helpful on: New to the God of War, this camera navigation system allows you to increase your vision towards the compass target. When not in battle, press the auxiliary navigation button and the camera will be directed towards the purpose of the next story.
Travel assistance: It is now possible to automate jumping, vaulting, covering and other movement functions according to the selected direction.
Help +: Adds interaction-based steps such as climbing, crawling, and narrow passages.
Audio source: We have linked a beep to each interaction message on the screen, so that using this function, you can hear when an interaction icon is nearby and when the key is active.
Audio signals extend to additional combat signals such as unobstructed sound of attack, change of targeting signal and change of weapon signal. The volume of the audio clues can be adjusted differently from other volume sliders, so you can change it to suit your needs.
