The official adaptation of Steve Jackson Games legend and award-winning Wargame Ogre is now available on the PlayStation. Full of mechanical warfare, this turn-based strategy game requires lots of strategic choices and calculated tactics. Based on the original board game created in 1977, this game will take you to another era.
Here are five key pointers in moving forward.
Refine your strategy
Strategic choices begin when you select units to keep in your perfect team, including their position and attacks to bring into the current battle. In that moment, the dice will determine the success of those choices: you can’t help but sit back and watch the action under your eyes.
Not too far into the future
A timeline that is not very different from ours, set in the near future. There is an armed conflict where a certain type of unit, Ogre, even terrorizes allies. Ogres is as powerful as AI-powered cybernetic tanks, tanks and the same firepower as the entire battalion of infantry. Get ready to immerse yourself completely in this award-winning classic game, relaunched for PlayStation.
Players will take part in an endless world war and take command of hovercraft, tanks, marines, infantry and even Ogres. Try to dominate the radiation battlefield of the very distant future.
Create your dream team
To choose from two different teams, you can play as the North American Combine or the Pan-European Federation and build your dream team from there. You can choose from light, heavy and missile tanks, GEV (Ground Effect Vehicle), Infantry, Marine, Howitzer and Ogres (Mark I – Mark VI) to create a different team each time you play.
If you want to keep improving, you can continue to refine your teams until you feel that you have thoroughly studied the configuration of the region. Then, once you find the perfect weakness, you can continue using the same team every time using the same unbeatable team. Create your final unit and use the train and command post as desired.
Replayable campaign
There are many different ways to play Ogre, with more options for team building, different choices and numerous situations to try. Ogre’s artificial intelligence will continue to amaze you, to the point that matches will never be the same. There are also many terrain types for fighting, including bodies of water. Include terrain in your combat strategy, use defensive zones to stop the enemy from attacking or to protect units from water pools.
And, of course, don’t forget that there are plenty of trophies to grab! Add it all up to be able to perfect your dream unit more than once and you’ll always find new and exciting ways to play Ogre.
Gameplay that stands the test of time
For over forty years, the board game has stood the test of time, thrilling gamers both on the table and on the PC, and now we’ve brought it to life on the PlayStation. This is a specific version of Ogre for the PlayStation, with extended GEV rules, which come from the original Ogre sequel, for further variation.
The PC version released in 2017 was Ogre’s first digital adaptation, since the game’s original creation in 1986. Since then Auroch Digital has worked hard to bring it to the PlayStation and create the best version possible.
