Have you ever seen a TikTok video where on-screen text or other details are obscured by usernames, profile bubbles, like counts, hashtags, descriptions, etc.?
There may soon be a solution – experiment This Out:
You can see this screenshot, posted by @ Aaj_malakai (And shared by Matt Navarre), TikTok is currently testing a new ‘Clear Mode’ option, which, if selected, will display your selected videos without app function buttons and video details on the screen.
While this may improve the overall viewing experience, this modified UI approach may have some downsides.
For one, it will share likes, comments and less instantly, which can reduce engagement, while on the other hand it will open up opportunities for screenshots without on-screen user details, which could lead to new conflicts with TickTock’s creator community (TickTock is already working on the revenue front). Satisfy the manufacturers).
And then there are TikTok’s ad content and in-stream shopping options Moving these would be a direct loss to TikTok’s business – so in many ways, this seems like a potentially good idea for users, but from any other point of view it’s not a great one.
This is why Tiktuk is currently relatively non-committed to justice.
As reported TechCrunch:
“TikTok says there is not much to share in the test at the moment. Considering clear mode limited testing, it is unknown when or when TikTok plans to roll it out more widely.“
I can assume that it will never be released, and if it does, it will only be available on a separate video basis, so you will not be able to set it as your default viewing setting. Which means you have to tap and switch to clear mode whenever you want to use it, which most people don’t.
Considering this, perhaps it could get a launch, if TikTok sees that it will not cause major disruption to its metrics. But still, it seems risky.
But, it is a possibility, and it can be an easy option in situations where the content is obscured by different buttons and text.
There isn’t much information yet, but we’ll keep you updated on any progress.
