(Pocket-Lint) – WhatsApp is testing a feature that allows users to edit messages sent to web apps on iOS, Android and messaging platforms.
As shown in the screenshots below – Captured by WABetaInfo – WhatsApp is experimenting with the idea of allowing users to change its content even after sending a message.
This isn’t the first time the app has tested the feature. In 2017, a similar feature was trialled, but it was not created entirely in Messenger.
This time, it looks like a long press on a message and a three-point menu selection will give you the option to edit. From here, you will be able to edit typo and other errors
What is not clear is whether there is a time limit for being able to edit these messages or, perhaps more importantly, if individual message history is available for other users to view.
Given this is just a beta feature, however, it is possible that more details are still being revealed by WhatsApp.
Naturally, this means there is no timeline for the full release of this feature – and it is assumed that it will be implemented at this time.

WhatsApp is a bit isolated in terms of adding new features, though, it seems that a long-awaited editing option is likely to come at some stage.
If you want to test the feature for yourself, you can join WhatsApp’s beta program in the Google Play Store. Otherwise, you have to keep your fingers crossed and hopefully this will make it through the test.
