Sheryl Sandberg is stepping down as Facebook-Parent Meter COO
Sandberg did not disclose in a Facebook post why he was leaving the company. He said it would happen this autumn. Sandberg said he would continue to work in areas of public interest. Since 1994, Sandberg has worked for the company.
“The social media debate has turned out of recognition in the last few years. Sandberg says “it’s not always easy” is an exaggeration. But it shouldn’t. We have a huge impact on the products we make and we must make sure they are safe for privacy.
Meta CEO and Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg says Sandberg will still serve as a director on the company’s board. Xavier Olivan (the company’s chief growth officer) will now be its next COO. But her role will not be like Sheryl’s and will be “more traditional” instead, Zuckerberg explained.
He said the meta is now at a stage where it makes more sense to integrate our business and product groups into individual business and operations functions.
After a long partnership, it is time to end the era
Sandberg was an established figure in technology when he joined Facebook. He was Google’s vice president for global online sales activities and marketing. He has previously held senior positions in the Treasury Department and the World Bank under President Bill Clinton. In his early years at Facebook, he was often referred to as the “adult supervisor” for companies run by young founders.
Zuckerberg wrote that Sheryl was 23 years old when she came to me for help in 2008. He didn’t know much about running a business and had no idea what an entrepreneur meant. “We’ve created a great product – the Facebook website – but we still didn’t have a profitable business and we were struggling to transform from a small startup into a real company.”
Sandberg and Zuckerberg worked together to increase Facebook’s revenue, from about $ 150 million in 2007 to $ 3.7 billion in 2011. Just a year before it came out in public. Sandberg has also become one of the most important women in the technology industry. Her work in launching Lean In, a movement that provides a roadmap for women to succeed and reach their goals, has helped her build a strong reputation.
Sheryl designed our advertising business, created a great management culture and showed me how to run a company. Zuckerberg says he has created millions of opportunities around the world and deserves credit for Mater’s success.
Sandberg was the leader of a transformation from Facebook’s Silicon Valley startup, which has been accused of undermining democracy and aiding genocide, a hot topic in Silicon Valley’s rise to prominence as a scandal-prone company. With Zuckerberg, Sandberg faces growing challenges from policymakers and the public about misinformation, allegations of political bias, and government regulations – forcing him to answer questions he may not have thought possible when he first agreed to join the company.
The company hired Nick Clegg in 2018 to head global affairs. He was responsible for managing Facebook’s public policy department. Reporting to former British Deputy Prime Minister Sandberg meant releasing Sandberg from part of his portfolio and lowering his profile – which, according to a 2021 report in the New York Times, partly highlighted a rift between Sandberg and Zuckerberg during the Trump administration. Was and it expanded over time. (Facebook disagrees with the Times portrayal of their relationship.
There were rumors for years that Sandberg might leave. Zuckerberg has claimed that Sandberg is not leaving and has said that they will continue to work together for “decades” in 2018.
Zuckerberg posted Wednesday that it is unusual for a business partnership like his to be long-lasting. We have a great partnership because Sheryl is a great leader, friend and partner.
