Spotify codes, introduced in 2017, work just like QR codes. These are unique identifiers for Spotify system components, including songs, albums, playlists, podcasts and profiles. By figuring out how to scan a Spotify code, you save time identifying and accessing content.

How to scan Spotify code (Android and iOS devices only)
Spotify codes can be found everywhere from bus stations to billboards to your friend’s phone Spotify code scanning is only possible on Android and iOS mobile devices, not from desktop apps or web players.
To scan a Spotify code from your Android or iOS device, open the Spotify app and tap Search Tab from the toolbar at the bottom of the app. Tap inside Artist, song or podcast Field to open the search function.

When your Spotify mobile app detects a Spotify code, the app will automatically redirect you to the encoded content.
What is a Spotify URI code?
Spotify also has something called URI code. These do not work in the same way as Spotify code; If you point your camera at a Spotify URI code it will do nothing.
Spotify URI codes are similar to URL links, and they exist outside of Spotify. URI is the text-based identifier of anything. In the case of Spotify, they are used to identify (and link to) similar elements that are found with Spotify codes. This includes music, podcasts, playlists and profiles.
How to find a Spotify URI code (desktop)

To find a URI code in the Spotify desktop app:
- Open the Spotify desktop app.
- Navigate to any content you want URI code 7 It can be a song, album, playlist, podcast or profile.
- Right click on that part of the content.
- Move your mouse below the list of options Share.
- With your mouse over ShareHold on Ctrl The key on your keyboard (or Options Key for Mac users). This will create the option Copy the Spotify URI Displayed
- Still holding that key, click Copy the Spotify URI.
