Hello, PC friends. I’m thrilled to be able to share some of our team’s progress working on the Xbox app on PC! We would like to thank everyone who sent us feedback on the feedback hub, tweeted your suggestions, chimed in on r / XboxInsiders subreddit, or chatted with many of our ambassadors.
We’ve continued to improve the app’s backend to make it run smoother and more reliably, and we’ve fixed the top reported issues and will continue to do so with app updates. The app has been updated to make it easier to navigate, search, and install games. Although we did not finish; So let’s get into it!
Game performance fit indicator
I was at the point where you download a game, you set your heart to play it, just to find out that your PC does not actually meet the requirements to play the game very well. You wish you knew before you downloaded the game and before your hopes were dashed. The good news is, the team has created a new feature that is starting to roll out that helps you see how well it works on your PC before downloading a game. Click on a game description to get additional information:
Now that the app compares the performance of the game on PC to your similar specs, we show a prediction of how well the game will run. If your PC does not work to play a graphically demanding game, you will be able to see the system requirements of the game to get more details about what you need to run the game. As we continue to learn about the performance of a game on a similar PC, you won’t see a performance test for each game (especially recently added games) unless we have enough information to share a recommendation. Keep checking back!
Recent Updates: It’s easy to discover your next game
We’ve recently improved the way we navigate the app and make it easier to find more games to play. All of your navigation is now in the sidebar, and game installations can be easily tracked with new rows (which show up at the bottom left of your app with a notification when your game is finished installing) so you can go straight to your next game.
You can find all your favorite games in “Search” with improved accuracy, and now the search results include games from EA Play and Ubisoft Connect. “Home” is where we add more collections for you to explore Team up with friends near or far with the new “Games to Play Together” collection. Jump, climb and fight as the action progresses across your screen with the “Side Scroller” collection. Or test your brain with the casual adventure and epic tales games found in the “Points and Clicks” collection. No matter what mood you are in, you will find a game to play!
Help build the future of PC
Again, a big thank you from our team for all your feedback as you play. We’d love to hear from you, so please leave feedback on your comments, send them to us on Twitter or on Xbox Insider Reddit – we’re listening, and will be back with more updates next time!
