BlackMagic Design has announced a new version of its Pocket Cinema Camera 6K that includes a flip-up screen and a larger battery, as well as new firmware for the entire PCC series that enables an image stabilization gyro that tracks camera movement for software correction.
The BlackMagic PCC 6K (G2) model is a dramatic update instead of the new camera, but also compatible with the new hinged 5in LCD monitor and the same NP-F550 battery that uses the current PCC 6K Pro, the new version of the camera Also supports for viewfinder. Gyro records the speed of the camera and saves the data inside the video file. When the file is brought to Blackmagic’s Davinci Resolve, the software can use embedded data to provide better image stability in the footage.

BlackMagic Design today announced the BlackMagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K G2, the next generation model of the BlackMagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K. The BlackMagic Pocket Movie Camera 6K G2 has a compatible touchscreen screen for easy framing of shots, a large battery for long shooting without the need to charge or change the battery, as well as support for an optional electronic viewfinder. The Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K G2 features the latest BlackMagic Generation 5 color science and the popular Cinematic Super 35 HDR image sensor with 13 stop dynamic ranges, dual native ISO and EF lens mounts from previous models.

The elegant design of the BlackMagic Pocket movie camera packs an incredible number of high-end digital film features in a miniature, handheld design. Made from a lightweight carbon fiber polycarbonate composite, the camera has a multi-function handgrip with all controls for recording at the customer’s fingertips, ISO, WB and shutter angle. Whether users are shooting in bright sunlight or shooting in almost no light, 13 stops in the dynamic range with dual native ISO up to 25,600 provide stunning low noise images in all lighting conditions. The Pocket Cinema Camera 6K models support an optional viewfinder to make outdoor and handheld shooting accurate and easy. Customers get a high quality 1280 x 960 color OLED display with built-in proximity sensor, 4 component glass diopters for incredible precision with wide-4 to +4 focus adjustment. A built-in digital focus chart ensures that customers get the perfect viewfinder focus setup. Customers can also view important status information such as a frame guide. Pocket Cinema Camera Pro EVF connects quickly via a single connector. The viewfinder has a 70 degree swivel range and it comes with 4 different eye makeups for both left and right eyes.
Both the BlackMagic Pocket Movie Camera 6K models now use larger NP-F570 batteries for longer shooting times without the need to change or charge the battery. A locking DC power connector is used so that customers do not have to worry about losing power during shooting. Also the included AC plug pack can power the camera and charge the battery at the same time. Even the USB-C expansion port can charge the battery, so customers can use portable battery packs, mobile phone chargers or laptops. The optional battery grip allows customers to add extra batteries to dramatically extend the camera’s power so customers can continue shooting throughout the day.
All pocket movie camera models include a full version of DaVinci Resolve Studio, the same software used to create Hollywood high-end feature films, episode television shows, commercials, and more.
