Picked up the cover from HTC Desire 22 Pro, Its latest smartphone that is equipped from top to bottom in Metaverse functionality (or so it is called HTC). HTC claims that the Desire 22 Pro can connect to its Vive Flow virtual reality glasses, which allow users to stream content from the phone’s screen to a wearable display. By doing this, users can experience an enhanced visual field equivalent to a 300-inch screen.
The latter is supported by a technology called HDCP, which provides support for apps like Netflix, Hulu and Disney +. However, it is not clear whether courtesy graphics will be extended to intensive online games that use a lot of network bandwidth, something that requires a fast wireless connection and a processor powerful enough to handle it. This seems unlikely for the HTC Desire 22 Pro, as the phone is powered by Qualcomm’s mid-range Snapdragon 695 chipset.
HTC has also baked the Weavers tool at the heart of its phone’s software, allowing users to store digital resources such as NFTs. This will allow them to access the Vive Market where they can spend their crypto tokens, deposit cryptocurrencies in their Vive wallet and send invitations to friends to test their metavers experience.
The Viv Wallet supports Ethereum and Polygon Chains. Although HTC didn’t really go into detail about the Metaverse aspect, those who splurge on the Desire 22 Pro will get an exclusive NFT as a gift. And if something happens on the phone’s official product page, that NFT has pictures of cats that mimic the classic painting of the female subject.
Coming to the inside of the phone, the Desire 22 Pro is strictly a mid-range affair. A 6.6-inch FHD + display with a 120Hz refresh front, with a hole-punch cutout for the selfie camera in the upper-left corner. Processing duty is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 695 chip, ticking 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage (including expansion via a microSD card).

Imaging hardware includes a 64-megapixel primary camera, a 13MP ultra-wide snapper and a 5MP depth sensor. The selfie shooter relies on a fairly powerful 32MP camera sensor. The 4,520 mAh battery supports 18W fast charging, while Android 12 handles things towards software with mostly stock experience.
HTC is offering the phone in a sleek Wave Gold and more cool Starry Night Black trim. The Desire 22 Pro is priced at NT, 11,990, which translates to around $ 400 US based on the current conversion rate. There is also a bundle that comes with Viv Flow glasses and its price is almost double. The HTC Desire 22 Pro will launch in Taiwan on July 1 and HTC did not share an international availability plan at the time of its release.
