It is clear that the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will say goodbye to the iconic notch after years of tradition. In terms of hardware, there were a few surprises at Apple’s presentation last week.
As expected, the more expensive iPhone models come with a punch hole instead of a notch, i.e. a section of the screen to accommodate the camera and other sensors. Since Apple still requires an infrared sensor for face unlock via FaceID, an oval instead of a circle was the best solution.
Dynamic Island turns evil into good
A big move for Apple that should be taken into consideration on iOS as well. Apple caused a controversial response with Dynamic Island, as it was named for the interaction of hardware and software at the top of the screen. Some are impressed by the innovative implementation, while others consider it a design accident.
But the concept is now exciting for Android users too – at least for some. A developer has recreated Dynamic Island into a theme for the comprehensive Xiaomi interface MIUI Unfortunately, the theme called “Grumpy UI” is only available in Chinese for now. After the wave of media attention for the project, I can well imagine that changing soon.
Xiaomi has always imitated Apple
The fact that the dynamic island was the first to be adapted in the Xiaomi universe is not without a certain irony: not only the first Xiaomi smartphones were accused of being a blatant copy of the iPhone, but the entire company, including the CEO Great examples to follow.
Another video on Twitter shows the software pill in action. Unfortunately, it doesn’t run as smoothly as Apple’s, but at least the concept works. What do you think about copying?
