A new report just ahead of Google’s October event has interesting news from Asia. A major newspaper wrote that Google is not only setting a new record for the Pixel 7 series in terms of ordering salable copies from manufacturers.
It also says that Google has already pre-ordered 4 million copies of a new “budget Pixel handset” from the manufacturer. This device should be launched early next year, writes Nikkei Asia. What does this mean for the upcoming Pixel 7a?
A new budget Pixel is coming in 2023
The question arises as to how much “budget” is interpreted by colleagues. Some manufacturers have very cheap devices that I would describe as cheap phones. For Google, however, the cheapest level of the Pixel series has always been over 400 euros.
Additionally, the A-series did not appear “early” within a year. Google last showed off the Pixel 6a in May and even sold it in the summer. Dragging the Pixel 7a is an option, but it will damage the Pixel 6a. A bigger gap between mid-range and high-end would be good for the Pixel series.
