What is really going on at Xiaomi, which once had huge ambitions? If we look at the latest smartphone market data for the third quarter of 2022, things look bleak for Xiaomi again. It’s not a major crash, but the Chinese-based company is no longer on the right track.
A look at the figures from the last quarter already shows that things are looking pretty good till the first quarter of 2021. But then it went back easily. Recently it is happening again that Xiaomi has to accept a minus. Admittedly Apple is not like almost all brands.
Xiaomi may keep its own numbers as high as possible, but is far from growing again
Omdia’s latest figures say the third quarter was about 11 percent weaker year-on-year. Only other Chinese brands such as Oppo and Vivo suffered a bigger decline. At Samsung, the decline was still moderate at 7.4 percent. The apple is slightly above.
Internationally, Chinese smartphone makers such as Xiaomi and Oppo sometimes face stagnation or decline. And the domestic market has become unpredictable due to the pathological corona policy. Everywhere you look, Apple and Samsung seem to be back in control.
