Because of its large user base, Google Major changes are rare in its browser interface. However, there is a redesign plan to “update” Chrome Omnibox on Android, and the end result looks similar to Pixel Launcher.
Update 10.12: Since September, Google has been working on redesigning the address bar and is now A/B testing it on a larger scale. I’ve got this pretty common on a current stable version of my devices (Chrome 108), while it will also be released in beta (v109). The company hasn’t committed to a launch, but widespread availability bodes well.
After using it for the past few days, I’m impressed with how similar it is to the Pixel Launcher’s Unified Search. Android 13 QPR1. The analogy can be quite disturbing, and I thought I had navigated to the wrong screen.

Search fields that don’t have boxes show a colored version of the “G” logo and volume/lens shortcut keys on the right. The menu layout is also identical, with an icon on the left and an arrow on the other
Original from 22.9: When Chrome was launched in 2008, a distinctive design aspect was that there was only one field for entering/displaying URLs and browsing the web. Google has dubbed this box as Omnibox and has been working on making it more useful for the past few years.”Chrome actionwhich is linked to the main browser settings. In addition, the box shows quick answers to already selected questions and images.
Since Chrome is at least 105 (currently stable), there is a flag called “Omnibox Update Visualization”. Only available for Android, chrome://flags/#omnibox-modernize-visual-update “A new user interface appears that refreshes visually.”
Chrome 108 (the canary) offers the most advanced design with three “enabled” variants in addition to the global option
The current design is a very clear list of URLs and search suggestions. This doesn’t really change with Rebirth, but each hit is placed on a card (with a dark background) to highlight items. Also, the top and bottom cards have rounded corners. This design reminds me of something Unified Search Pixel Launcher It is included in Android 13 QPR1 beta. Continuity is an interesting method.
Meanwhile, the No Active multicolored square variant/flag interestingly ditches the pill-shaped container for a look that truly mimics the Pixel Launcher’s search.
In the description, Google specifically says, “This tag is for Phase 1 of the Clank Omnibox renewal plan.” It is strongly noted that Google has more plans, which may also affect the functionality of Omnibox.
As with all tags, Chrome’s Omnibox redesign for Android may not actually work Apparently, however, it’s less of a departure than that Double/double chrome platedSo the odds are definitely better.
