Exxon has announced F-C01 Remote Focus SystemFocus on an affordable, wireless follow-up. It has the added benefit of being able to be used as a wireless or wired system depending on your needs.
Exxon says the F-C01 focus control package brings high-end wireless reliability to affordable remote focus systems. The F-C01 uses a new frequency hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) system developed by Accsoon that operates at 915 MHz ultra-high frequencies. This allows the motor and controller to communicate continuously by switching channels together at speeds hundreds of times per second within a certain frequency range.
Controller and motor
The system consists of a separate controller and a motor. The F-C01’s controller was designed to fit comfortably in the user’s hand. It can be attached to a monitor, gimbal, cage or quick-release mounting plate attached to the side of the camera. The controller has a physical dimensions of 79 x 73 x 55mm / 3.11 x 2.87 x 2.16 এবং and weighs 110g / 3.88 oz. The F-C01 motor mounts directly to a 15mm diameter camera rod and has a physical dimensions of 53.5 x 10.4 x 32 mm / 2.10 x 0.4 x 1.25 ″ and weighs 100g / 3.52 oz.
The package includes a compatible rod and a mounting plate solution for direct attachment to a camera cage.
The F-C01 is compact and light in weight so you can use it with smaller sized cameras and it is claimed to offer almost silent operation. It has the ability to automatically calibrate and set A / B focus points. The lens motor was designed to offer high torque which would allow it to be used with large cine lenses. According to Accsoon, one of the primary reasons the F-C01 stands out from its competition is that many affordable wireless follow focus systems struggle to run cine lenses.
The motor has a maximum torque of 0.35 Nm. The operating temperature for the system ranges from -10 ° C to + 40 ° C.
How is it powered?
The F-C01 controller is powered by a single Sony-type NP-FW50 lithium-ion rechargeable battery. This is the same type of battery used in many Sony Mirrorless cameras, so users of those cameras don’t have to buy new batteries. For customers who do not own the Sony NP-FW50 Battery, They will be available to buy a kit with 2 NP-FW50 type batteries and a USB charger
The F-C01 motor can be powered by any 5-16.8V power source, which allows it to run from USB power, camera gimbal access ports, as well as full-size 14.8V camera battery bricks and other power solutions. USB-C wires from DC to USB-C and USB-C wires from D-Tap are both included and allow the extra power needed to drive stiff, heavy lenses.
How much range does it have?
The F-C01 is claimed to have a free range of 100m / 350ft and a latency time below 10ms.
Plug and play?
The F-C01 system pairs and calibrates with a push of a button. The two units can be combined directly when used as an on-camera lens controller.
For cameras that support this, the F-C01 motor has a port to connect to a cable so that recording can be triggered from the Rec button on the controller. Accsoon is also releasing dedicated camera cables that can be purchased separately.
