Adobe has announced A new update to Premiere Pro, including the Adobe Sensei-powered Remix, which can match music clips to video content, and an updated Speech to Text function for creating transcriptions. The update brings Premiere Pro to version 22.2.
Looking first at Remix, the new tool allows creators and editors to ‘rearrange songs to match the timing of their videos.’ Remix is powered by Adobe Sensei, Adobe’s AI technology. Artificial intelligence is used to analyze a song and generate a new mix that conforms to a user-specified duration. Your selected duration can be shorter or longer than the original song. Adobe states that Remix works quickly enough that you can try out different arrangements using sliders in the Essential Sound panel within Premiere Pro. You no longer need to manually cut and assemble a new track, which can take a long time and requires skill, as Remix promises to perform the work in seconds.
Speech to Text is an important workflow tool for captioning videos in Premiere Pro. The new update makes the feature significantly faster and more flexible. Users can now download language packs to allow for transcription when not connected to the internet, which was previously a limitation of the tool. The offline functionality promises the same accuracy. Further, on Intel Core i9 and Apple M1 computers, transcriptions are up to three times faster than older processors and about twice as fast as other current processors. The English language pack is installed in the latest release of Premiere Pro, and all 12 other supported languages can be installed via the Creative Cloud Desktop app or within Premiere Pro itself. All language packs will be updated on an ongoing basis.
Users working with HDR content should experience faster exports and other improvements. HEVC 10-bit 4: 2: 0 Rec.2020 is exported up to 10x faster on Windows systems with Intel or NVIDIA graphics. Hardware acceleration plays a key role by using the GPU to speed up exports. The chart below shows the significant difference between Premiere Pro 22.1.1 and the new version 22.2.
Premiere Pro 22.2 also includes GPU acceleration for Linear Wipe and Block Dissolve effects. Hardware acceleration results in improved playback and faster exports when using these effects. In total, over 70 percent of Premiere Pro effects include GPU acceleration.
For users with the 2021 MacBook Pro models, the ones with the notch, Premiere Pro now adjusts to accommodate the notch.
