Google has managed to compensate for many of the disadvantages of the last Pixel generation, as subsequent tests confirm
With the Galaxy S23 Ultra, Samsung offers one of the most powerful phones available today It does not get particularly hot, provides maximum performance and is very stable. In contrast, last year’s Pixel 7 Pro looked pretty dated. But as its successor, how does the Pixel 8 Pro compare?
A colleague of “In Depth Tech Reviews” also asked himself this question and compared the new Google smartphone with the Galaxy S23 Ultra and the iPhone 15 Pro Max. In terms of price, the 2023 devices have certainly come close, with the Pixel Pro becoming 200 euros more expensive. But what about performance?
Overall, the Pixel 8 Pro performs very well. It no longer gets too hot, the display can be kept very bright for long periods of time and there were no crashes. But the graphical performance was not up to the competition. Battery consumption was very similar and not noticeably worse.

The Pixel 7 Pro looked even worse
Samsung phones win the current comparison and that was seven months ago. At the time, however, the Pixel 7 Pro couldn’t come close. It had the highest temperatures, the display darkened significantly during testing, and several crashes as well as the worst battery performance.
Although the Tensor G3 chipset has once again been heavily criticized, there have been very clear advances. Google’s hardware boss announced this in an interview and probably didn’t promise too much. I can also underline it from my daily life, all points are remarkably good, even if not at the highest level.
