Ambient, the German audio manufacturer known for making one of the best carbon fiber boom poles, is now coming with the new Ambient QuickPole Series 5 product line. It combines the best features from QS Series 4 and QP Series 4 Boom poles into one, and it gets even better.
Series 5, Generation 5, Segments 5
The New QuickPole Series 5 Carbon fiber Boom pole is using the 5th generation of Ambient Boom pole tubes, which means that the diameter of the largest section (the one at the bottom outside) is 34mm. It features 5 sections which provide much more flexibility. Also, the Boom pole is shorter for transportation convenience and is longer when extended.
With the new QuickPole Series 5 boom pole, Ambient is combining the features of their existing light-weight QS Series 4 and premium heavy-duty QP Series 4 boom poles into one, and it gets even better.
Ultra-Lightweight and Ultra-sturdy
The new QuickPole Series 5 is using a custom-made carbon fiber compound which helps to reduce the weight. Additionally, there is a UHM Fiber Layer added to provide extra sturdy for the Boom pole. Only with this construction, for the first time, Ambient can produce a Boom pole, the QP5150, which has a length of 1550mm when collapsed and can be fully extended to 6370mm long!
Smooth, Smoother
The new QuickPole Series 5 also features a new Teflon sheet plus silicone-lubricated felt layer. It does not only make the boom pole extending and collapsing more smoothly, but also reduces the handling noise.
Better Grip, More Protection
The Ambient Series 5 has a re-engineered lock system, which is longer than the previous one with refined knurling. This will give you a better grip. Also, with a new quarter-turn design, which allows us to open and close the section locks fast and secure with only a quarter turn.
The Series 5 Boom poles all feature the anti-twist mechanism of the pole-sections (intersectional twist protection). The lock pieces will fall into two parts when you disassemble your pole for cleaning or maintenance, making the work much easier and safer to be done.
No Fear for Internal Cable Anymore
With the new QuickPole Series 5, Ambient also designed a new tip and new optional bottom end for easy, solder-free internal cable retrofit. What you need to do is only take off the tip mount, insert the pre-configured internal cabling, and plug it into the bottom butt-end. All the parts for internal cabling are optionally available for purchase. There are two cable kits, Cable kit #1 has coiled internal cable for shorter boom poles, which is mostly used on ENG and documentary shootings. Cable Kit #2 has straight internal cable for longer boom poles, which are used more on feature film sets. Both cable kits are available in Mono and Stereo configuration.
Models, Length and Weight
There are 6 models available from very short to ultra-long. The shortest QP550 is 550mm (21.65in) long collapsed, 1850mm (72.83in) long extended, and weight 450g (15.87oz). The longest QP5150 is 1550mm (61.02in) long collapsed, 6370mm (250.79in) long extended and weight 1080g (38.10oz). Four models, the QP565, QP580, QP5100, QP5130 are in between.
