If you’re looking for a great deal on a new MacBook Pro, Apple has something interesting this week. But you have to be quick.
For the first time, Apple has listed the M3 MacBook Pro Renewed section With big discounts.
Although these laptops are not “new in the box,” they have been fully serviced by Apple, come with the same warranty as a brand new device, and are eligible for the same AppleCare benefits as a new laptop. Stock is also limited. So if you’re looking for a specific model (like an entry-level model), you’ll need to keep an eye on availability.
Of course, everything is available at the Apple Store, and the new M3-powered MacBook Air is expected to launch at the end of March, which will introduce the next generation of Apple silicon with the M3 Pro and M3 Max MacBook Pro models in early October.
If your only concern is maximum power and performance possible, you probably have an M3 Pro or M3 Max on your desk. The M3 MacBook Pro does not achieve these standards, but the M3 offers a significant increase in performance over the MacBook Air.
I’d argue that the performance difference between the consumer-oriented MacBook Air and MacBook Pro laptops isn’t enough to justify the price difference (and there’s hardly any real demand for the M3 MacBook Pro), but with a $240 discount, the Dollar Refurb Store is $1,599. Given the list price, there’s a good chance it’ll make the refurbished model a viable deal.
We still don’t know the price of the M3 MacBook Air, which is expected to launch in March. I expect the M2 MacBook Air to remain on sale but drop to $999, with the M3 MacBook Air launching at $1,199 or $1,299, bringing the price of these refurbished models down to $1,359 in the right light. The upcoming MacBook Air could cost as much as $50.
Whether the benefits of nearly 20 percent more power and the word “Pro” engraved on the cover are important enough to consider the oddly decorated (but now slightly cheaper) M3 MacBook Pro is a personal decision… and the benefits of being there are now substantial.
