The next major patch for Baldur’s Gate 3 is coming soon, and it looks like it will be patchy and include various performance improvements and other fixes. Even better, Patch 2 will apparently deal with Mynthara, who was thwarted by what director Suen Vinh called a “very stupid mistake.”
Speaking to IGN ahead of Patch 2’s release, Vinke discussed how Baldur’s Gate 3’s opportunities can create chain reactions that sometimes lead to content being accidentally banned. Such is the case with the alleged murderer of Baldur’s Gate number three.
“The game is highly interactive and there were some bugs due to which some of the comrades could not interact as they should. So it seemed that the content was not showing up. So they were not seen specifically in Minthara,” explained Venky. “So [lead writer Adam Smith] He told me that about 1500 Minthara lines were not showing up due to a very stupid bug which we have now isolated. So let’s solve that.”
Minthara’s fonts “worked” in previous versions, Venke said, but “something else stopped them from working.” It’s the challenge of creating a complex, networked role-playing game full of thousands of micro interactions.
We will see if there is anything else we can do for them.
Venky discussed the team’s overall vision for Menthara, saying it went through “several iterations”. One of the main differences is that he’s not a real character, which means you can’t play with him from the start. Basically, he is what Venky describes as a “sidekick”.
“It actually serves another character that you meet later in the game, an antagonist,” he says. “So you should have cast a different light on that enemy.”
He continued, “It doesn’t help that some of his lines aren’t exciting. So it’s not his justice. But he’s never had a look – looking for the original… that’s what you get for some of it.” The others are Chapter 3… So for those who were looking. Besides, he is not there.
“They found a difference in Minthara and we removed it because it was getting too complicated. Then we didn’t have a place in the game to tell that story. So they found bits of it.” So it’s not like we’re cutting anything big there. Only Mintha’s ability to become evil also serves the imagination.”
[W]First we’re going to fix his content blocking problem, then we’ll see how he lands on the fence, and then we’ll see if there’s anything else we can do with him.
However, Larian Studios is still keeping the door open for further development in the future.
“[W]First we’ll fix his content blocking issue, then we’ll see how he reaches fans, and then we’ll see if we can do anything else with him. I mean the response to the game has been great and overwhelming for us. So it is definitely much more than we expected. So we record everything and then filter. “So we’ll see where it leads,” Fink said.
“We made this game for players to enjoy. If there’s something that doesn’t really work, rest assured that unless we can’t, we’ll probably do something about it at some point.” “We don’t work miracles. We are still a limited team with a limited number of people who have worked hard to make this happen.”
In addition to regaining access to Minthara content, according to Vink, fans can expect a new ending for the fan-favorite Karlach (he vaguely suggests that when you see a cigar you know you’ve found new content) and that it will also be “a lot of crowd pleasers.” do.” It will also include improvements to cooperative play, as well as “a bunch of other things that people have been asking for.”
