Black Shark 5 is now available worldwide, including in the United States

Xiaomi gaming subsidiary Black Shark has unveiled its latest gaming flagship phone in the global market, including the United States.

The Black Shark Series is a line of phones targeting gamers that can compete with some phones for providing a gaming experience with high-performance, advanced cooling, dedicated magnetic triggers and advanced audio. The latest Black Shark 5 and 5 Pro build on these features, offering improvements that could make the phone a must-buy for the right gamer.

Black Shark 5: What’s New?

The Black Shark 5 series is powered by two different chipsets depending on the model. The baseline variant is powered by the early 2021 Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 while the Pro model has the 2022 Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip. Also, the phone has up to 16GB RAM and 256GB storage.

Throttling performance is one of the biggest problems for mobile gamers when the processor starts to get hot. Black Shark phones have always been known for their cooling systems, but using the Black Shark 5 dual VC liquid cooling plate adds some significant improvements. The company says the plates have a new “anti-gravity” feature designed to improve cooling liquid circulation. What’s more, the processor, battery and 5G antenna are directly connected to the cooling plate through the copper alloy design. This will help in higher heat dissipation and keep the phone cool enough to run at maximum performance.

The phone has a magnetic trigger, which gives gamers a touch sensor feel, not just relying on on-screen controls. The Black Shark 5 incorporates the company’s second-generation triggers with more subtle-beautiful feedback and can be mapped to various gaming functions. They can also be mapped to other non-gaming functions, such as turning on the flashlight. Thanks to the nature of their popups, they stick away until they need to, a jerk of side-mounted buttons reveals them.

The new phone has a 4,650mAh battery, coupled with brightly fast 120W wired charging. The company says the phone will be fully charged in 15 minutes. What’s more, the Black Shark 5 supports bypass charging, allowing it to run during gameplay without charging the battery. This reduces heat and saves battery life.

Elsewhere, both phones have a 6.67-inch OLED display with full HD + resolution and 144Hz refresh rate. The back has a triple-lens system with wide-angle, ultra-wide-angle and macro lenses. Both phones support NFC and feature side-mounted capacitive fingerprint scanners.

Black Shark 5 and 5 Pro are officially available from June 9, 2022. The phone is available in United States, Canada, Australia, Israel, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Republic of Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, , Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and United Kingdom.
