As part of the character creation process in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, players must select a player-controlled rock and a class for a team. After customizing most of the Rook’s body using the hundreds of options available in Velgard, including things like Qunari horn type and material, it’s time to choose this class.
There are three classes to choose from: Rogue, Mage, and Warrior. As the name suggests, each has a unique combat system and therefore plays differently. Although you perform things like light and heavy attacks using the same buttons, how these attacks work depends on your class. For example, a warrior with a sword and shield can shoot like Captain America or orient his shield to throw, while a mage can use the same button to launch a ranged magical attack – read more about Vilgard Battle detective game Here are the exclusive features. Additionally, the differences become more apparent as you define these categories and explore their individual specializations.
- rogue He has access to three specializations. The Swordsman is the fastest of the three, armed with two blades for quick strikes; Sabotage uses tricks and traps. The Vale Ranger is a pure ranged fighter that shoots enemies from a distance with a bow.
- magician He can use Necromancy with the Deathcaller specialty; Necromancers use fire, ice, and lightning; Magic Blade uses magical melee attacks.
- warrior He can become the Grim Reaper, stealing life with a nightblade and risking death to gain supernatural powers; The Assassin, a simple but powerful weapons expert; Or the Champion, a tactical defensive fighter.
While these specializations may not be important at first – you’ll be ranked between them via the skill tree as the game progresses – it’s a good idea to consider the potential of each class before choosing.
For the final step of the character creator, players choose a team at least during the BioWare demo. Each faction has unique casual clothing worn in certain scenes when the character is not wearing armor, as well as three unique attributes. For example, Lords of Luck gain more reputation with that particular faction, increase damage against mercenaries, and take out enemies with slightly less effort. These faction choices are tied to your character’s backstory, determining who Rook was before, how they met Varric, why they travel with Varric instead of their own faction, and more, says Velgard game director Corin Bush.
Creative director John Eppler told me, “The message of The Velgard is that you can’t save the world alone – you need your comrades, but you also need these groups, these other groups in the world”. “You help them, and now they help you.”
He says that BioWare wanted to avoid the solace of collecting 200 random resources or items before helping save the world. Instead, the team’s goal was to create teams that wanted to help you, but had realistic challenges and problems in front of them, so that it was narratively clear why you would rather help them when the time came.
“In terms of gameplay, each of our classes has a specialty and each of them is tied to a team,” continued Eppler. “But beyond that, each faction has its own [companion] beside [people we’re calling agents, ancillarily] Who are the faces of these parties? We didn’t just want to say, “Here’s the Gray Warden, take care of them.” When this happens there are moments where the whole group is left out. They still support you.”
If you are unhappy with your lineage or class, you can change it using the Transformation Mirror, which is located in the main center of the Veil Guard, the lighthouse. There you can also change the visual appearance of the rook.
