CAME-TV has just released a new high-output 150W Bi-Color LED Fresnel light: the CAME-TV Boltzen F-150S. This compact fixture has no ballast, it can go from 3200K to 5600K with a claimed CRI of 96, it has DMX In and Out ports, and you can power it with V-Mount/Gold-Mount batteries. Let’s take a closer look!
CAME-TV Boltzen F-150S – Features
CAME-TV’s Boltzen lighting fixtures have been available for quite some time now, with small fixtures like the Boltzen Q-55S that we discussed here. With the release of the CAME-TV Boltzen F-150S, the company is stepping up its game with a fixture nearly three times as bright as its 55W little brother.
CAME-TV Boltzen F-150S – Specs
The CAME-TV Boltzen F-150S has a 150W light output. The light comes from a single COB chip, and you can adjust the light output from 0 to 100%. There is no illumination info/numbers available at the moment.
There is a built-in fresnel lens in front of the lighting chip, yet there is no information if the fresnel element is made of plastic or real glass.
You can adjust the flood/spot angle via a knob on the side of the light. To further control your light output, the fixture comes with a set of removable barndoors.
You can adjust the color temperature from 3200K to 5600K. These figures are below what other fixtures are able to do, like the Aputure LS 300X that can go from 2700K-6500K. CAME-TV claims that the CRI of the F-150S is around 96.
The light features a built-in DC 12-24V locking power input port. You can power it via V-Mount/Gold-Mount batteries, plus the light comes with a P-Tap cable.
There is an LCD screen at the back of the fixture. Below the screen are three knobs to adjust the color temperature, DMX address, and dimming of the light. You’ll also find DMX in and out ports, two Ethernet ports, the power connector, and an On/Off switch.
Like the vast majority of lighting fixtures with over 100W, the CAME-TV Boltzen F-150S features a built-in fan. The light seems to be made of plastic, which should help dissipate the heat, but I’m a bit concerned about the build quality and strain it can take. We might review this light and will know better then. The original CAME-TV Boltzens have been used on many CineD reviews over the years and despite some downsides like loose barndoors are still performing well.
An optional Bowens-Mount is available if you want to attach a softbox or other light modifiers in front of the light. Two filters are included with the F-150S to soften the light output – a soft and a milky diffuser.
Price and Availability
The CAME-TV Boltzen F-150S is available now for $499. As a direct comparison, the Ikan Helia 150W Bi-Color retails for the same price and doesn’t have Ethernet connection ports.
