If there is any hope of launching in December
More than 35 years later, Street Fighter is doing something the series has never done before by bringing not one, but two outside guest characters to a new game.
Between Terry Bogard and SNK’s Mai Shiranui, only the former seems to be close to the second season of Street Fighter 6.
Capcom made a new post on social media this evening confirming that Mai, the seductive kunoichi, will not be playable in SF6 until early 2025.
Previously, the developers said that Shiranui Ninja was slated for a winter 2025 release, but still expect it to arrive sooner rather than later.
That’s because “Winter 2025” actually begins in December 2024, though it seems that May won’t be visiting for Christmas or New Years, leaving Terry alone with the World Warriors.
Since the content release schedule for Season 2 content starts before Season 1, we can at least assume that the wait for Mai and Elena will be slightly shorter than for Ed and Akuma.
My, interesting kunoichi.

M. Bison will be released on June 26, while Rosetta was released at the end of July last year Therefore, Capcom is introducing a similar DLC calendar so we can set some tentative time for when we can see the rest of season 2.
Moving things a month before AKI, Terry’s release could be pushed back to August, May to January, and Elena to around April, though that’s purely speculative at this point based on last year’s schedule.
The wait between AKI and Ed was particularly long last year too, with about five months between characters, so perhaps they’ll keep Terry closer to September or October to ensure a more balanced distribution of content this time around.
It will also be interesting to see how Mai’s release coincides with Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, considering the game is slated for an “early 2025” release window and this cross-promotion between studios will continue.
Street Fighter 6’s developers have talked a lot about adding Terry and Mike as the series’ first guest characters, and they’re close to incorporating the famous Fatal Fury moves into Street Fighter and the Drive system.
They also answered questions about what this means for a potential Capcom vs. SNK revival and why the pairing was chosen in the first place.
With M. Bison coming soon, Terry Bogard will likely get at least one more teaser featuring his actual in-game appearance for SF6 next month at Evo 2024, which takes place July 19-21.
