Google or Samsung? For me, this question is again more difficult, especially because of the camera.
Vacation is over and I have some thoughts about using my smartphone that I want to share with you. Over the past few months, I’ve become known as a Samsung fanboy as I’ve been using a Galaxy S23 Ultra for months now for years. But I am still aware of the advantages of Pixel phones.
But I can’t fail to mention that with the Galaxy S23 Ultra, even on a long vacation with lots of photos and other activities, I never thought about the nearest power outlet. It’s different with Google, the Pixel 7 Pro’s battery life is noticeably shorter and doesn’t get me through everyday life. Hopefully things will be better with Tensor G3.
Samsung has a camera problem
Other benefits are brighter display, better fingerprint sensor and few other things. But what I lack with a baby and a cat is a camera that takes a really good snapshot in every situation. That’s not always possible with the Samsung flagship’s 200-megapixel camera, even after numerous updates, and it’s annoying.
We had the most shameless moment on an indoor trampoline. Although I only took blurry ground photos with the Galaxy S23 Ultra, even my wife’s much older iPhone 12 was able to capture our son without motion blur. The fact that the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s camera fails completely in some situations is just annoying.
Censorship isn’t necessary and even Google’s Unblur can’t save anything here:
These and many other moments make me wish I had my Pixel 7 Pro back. It takes good hip snap and is fairly reliable. One of the great strengths of Pixel phones is one that I, as a family man, am becoming more and more aware of, as we take significantly more photos as children become more active.
My favorite at the moment would be the Pixel Fold, even though it’s very expensive. But it’s not just poor availability that mars the most expensive Pixel of all time, but also possibly less-than-good camera performance, too. Only at the Pixel 7a levelSpoil my expectations a little.
