- OnePlus confirmed today that the OnePlus 8T will ship with Android 11, skinned with Oxygen OS 11.
- This will likely make it the first non-Pixel phone to launch with the latest version of Android.
- The new phone lands on October 14.
Earlier today, we learned that there won’t be a OnePlus 8T Pro this year. This was likely upsetting for lots of OnePlus fans. However, we now have some better news to wash down the bad news: the vanilla 8T will ship with Android 11 out-of-the-box.
Of course, Oxygen OS 11 will be skinned over the latest flavor of Android on that phone.

The Google Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G will launch tomorrow, making them the first phones to launch with Android 11 onboard. However, unless another company swoops in over the next two weeks to steal OnePlus’ thunder, the OnePlus 8T should be the first non-Pixel phone to launch with Android 11 on October 14.
We already know quite a lot about Oxygen OS 11 since the company has been running an open beta for a while now. As such, there probably won’t be too many surprises on the OnePlus 8T as far as the software goes. We can also expect Oxygen OS 11 to land on the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro (and possibly the OnePlus Nord) very soon after the next launch, too.
As for older devices from the brand, everything from the OnePlus 6 and later should (eventually) get Oxygen OS 11. That isn’t confirmed by the company yet, but judging from its history, it’s a safe bet.
