It is a fact that the world’s largest anime viewing platform Crunchyroll, which has been nourished by the best possible content over the years, with the latest series and the best part is that they can be heard in the language of the client’s choice as long as the option remains active. However, there are some changes that have come as a surprise, and at the time of writing this note, they have started a movement that affects the users themselves.
At this point, the comment section is excluded from the platform, either for news posted on blogs or for chapters available on the web or in applications. In a statement, they reported that they reached this conclusion because of the toxic communities that they then discuss within the forums and they usually complain about certain translations or give spoilers that can harm the customer experience.
Here is an excerpt of what was mentioned:
At Crunchyroll, we prioritize creating a safe and respectful community environment. To maintain this standard, we hide all existing user-generated content, including comments and reviews, across all our platforms and experiences.
This decision has been taken to ensure a safer, more respectful and higher quality environment for all users This change helps us reduce harmful content, prevent misinformation and improve the overall user experience.
A part of the community didn’t like it, as they pointed out that due to the error of some users who spam or give low ratings to certain anime, not everyone has to pay for it, even those who enjoyed watching it check out certain series to see the comments. It was worth it. They think it would be better to have moderators who will check comments and issue bans so they can write reviews, which can be time-limited.
