It’s clear that the premiere of Anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was a success, and because of that, the CD Projekt Red video game got a second wind that translated into acceptable sales. Add to that the fact that there is already a DLC on the way and a sequel that was not expected, especially given the poor reception when the work was launched. And given the popularity of this studio-triggered anime, there seems to be no chance of a second season. This was clarified by Satoru Honma, director of CD Projekt Red, its Japanese division. Mentioned that they really liked working with the animation group, but they thought of this project as something unique. Here’s his comment: Personally, we want to continue working with Japanese studios to make more anime in the future, because we’ve received such good feedback. Just to be clear, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was planned as a standalone project, so there’s no ‘we’re working on Season 2 in the background. Even if we can do more anime in the future, I don’t know if it will be season 2 or something completely different. Given this, Honma makes it clear that they are grateful to the animation studio, after all it helped a lot to give the video game a second wind. Hope to continue working with them. However, this could be a completely different cyberpunk story, not tied to the events we’ve seen in the series. Note that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is available on Netflix. Via: Famitsu
Editor’s Note: The truth is that this is a very entertaining anime, and even though another season is expected, at least they are sincere in saying that they are not promising anything. Totally worth it for those who haven’t seen it yet The post Cyberpunk: Edgerunners won’t have more seasons
